“Ever since I was a young lad in Moose Jaw, I’ve enjoyed camping, boating, and the great outdoors. I’ve always felt right at home on the water, so some of my fondest memories are of fishing with my father and in later years with our son. A Queen Scout, one of my first summer jobs was as a canoe instructor at Camp Capernum. A couple of years later, I was exploring Vancouver Island in between shiftwork at MacBlo in Port Alberni.” After relocating with his family to Calgary in 1993, Bob joined the Calgary Area Outdoor Council and began hiking regularly, usually with his wife and their good friends Warren & Sandy, in Kananaskis Country and the Canadian Rockies.

After arriving in Canada in 2015, Melissa started working with Travel Alberta as a Tourism Consultant for the Hinton Visitor Information Centre. Along the way, she’s developed & marketed “Hinton specific” merchandise such as wall & desktop calendars and postcards. Melissa is a keen photographer and uses her own series of local snapshots in creating unique local gifts. In 2006, Dan & his wife Jean moved from Saskatchewan to retire in Drumheller. However, retirement has not come easily for these two incredibly energetic friends (more on that later). You see Dan & Jean have owned and operated three businesses together. They like to stay active. Maybe that’s part of the reason why they bought a new RV recently and travel regularly back to Saskatoon to be with their son, his wife and their three children.

In addition to travel and family, Dan has a passion for music and has a collection of about 16 guitars.

Dan brings a lifetime of knowledge to his new position with CMI. After a short eye-opener with the Saskatoon City Police Department, Dan ventured into automotive mechanics. However, a sales career was his ultimate calling. Over the years, Dan has sold a variety of products and services including, but not limited to, advertising, vacuum cleaners, industrial chemicals, and real estate. Actually this is where Bob (CMI’s publisher) and Dan’s paths first crossed almost 40 years ago. You see, they worked together at Century 21 in Saskatoon for several years!
